Restaurateur and Community Enthusiast
For over 40 years, Joe Zimmer has been a resident of Orion Township and a successful restaurateur, owning and operating multiple restaurants in the area. His Culver's franchise stands out as one of the top-performing restaurants in the country, encompassing 950 Culver's stores nationwide. Zimmer attributes his business success to a strong emphasis on customer service, leading his restaurant to be a four-time recipient of the prestigious Ruth Culver’s Hospitality Award.
Zimmer, a native of South Bend, Indiana, has dedicated most of his life to Michigan. A graduate with a marketing degree and minor in general business from Western Michigan University, he started his career at General Foods and later became the vice president of personnel, training, and development for Big Boy Restaurants, Inc.
Despite attempting retirement twice, Zimmer's passion for people keeps him engaged, working seven days a week at Culver's of Lake Orion and Orion Township. He enjoys working with his family and managing over 100 crew members. He's married to Sue of 54 years, has three daughters who graduated from Lake Orion High School, and six grand children. On Sundays you'll see him around town enjoying Lake Orion with loved ones.
